                                            CLASS PROGRAMS AT PAUMA

 Ronna Semonian resumed her FUNCTIONAL TRAINING CLASS last DECEMBER – working on flexibility, balance, and core strengthening.   The schedule is:   Mondays at 4:00, Wednesday and Friday’s at 9:00 until 10:00 class period in the Great Hall, $11.00 per class or $75 for the month……..information on time and days, and any changes in HAPPENINGS which comes out weekly on Wednesday on your e-mail address.  Men are welcomed and encouraged to join in.  Please bring a mat (or we will provide one) and wear comfortable clothes.

2 days a week (Wed. and Fri.), we have a warm-up WALK for those that want more. Meet before the class at 8:00, in the parking lot. Pam Degen will lead those (that’s me)……..also if you are interested in a private functional training and equipment session, or an evaluation by  Ronna – please contact her at ronnasemonnian@gmail.com .  She also is a  T.P.I. certified trainer (Titlist Performance Institute) – doing private swing exercise programs, the K-VEST, and other golf training tools.

Ronna is beginning her 4th year with us – and will be working through-out the summer until Sept. 1st.  During the winter and  summer schedule, she hopes to schedule a date for a demonstration of the CORE equipment in the Fitness Facility – Functional Trainer and the Grid…..important tools to use for a full body work-out.  Also, a lecture on nutrition – both TBA as we slide into the summer months.

          VALLEY CENTER COMMUNITY LIBRARY – has a litany of classes, ranging from chair yoga, to adult yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi, and educational classes.  Go to their website for more information. Usually the classes are donation only, and the library is up Cole Grade about 12 minutes away…. WORTH IT! HIKING  

               SAFETY TIP:  when hiking, always take a buddy, tell someone WHERE you are hiking, and take plenty of water along with your cell phone. In summertime, snakes love to sun themselves BEWARE!

     1.     WILDERNESS GARDENS PRESERVE – 14209 Highway 76, near Pala – open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

                        $3 fee – ample parking and brochure with history and map – EASY to MODERATE

    2.     DALEY RANCH – 3024 La Honda, Escondido, Ca. – approx. 20 miles – 760-839-4680                           Over 20 miles of hiking, biking, horse trails spread over 3000 acres.  Organized hikes offered by Naturalist, check website for details www.escondido.org/daley-ranch.aspx  .  Opened from dawn to dusk.  Take your own water, trails are marked – easy to moderate

 

       3.    PALOMAR MOUNTAIN – Hiking Trails and Observatory - off Hwy 76, just east of Pauma Valley –

                             Observatory at the top of the mountain (5,000 ft.) , opened from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. – FREE to the public.  Operated by the California Institute of Technology.  Hiking trails from the parking area there, or through-out the State Park.  Rangers are on site, and hiking trails are well marked with the elevation being around 4,000 ft…it is  cooler than down here, below. Moderate level in general, with a lot of choices of trails and distances.   www.palomarmountainhikingtrails

These are only 3 of the more popular and accessible hikes……….There is a Hiking Club in Valley Center.

Always take plenty of water with you, let someone know where you are going, and hike with a friend.
